This section lists all of the regionally native shrubs that we recommend for Wyoming gardens.
Shrubs are a great choice for adding height, winter interest and a change of texture and color to your garden. Because they have woody tissue, they do require a little extra water than their wildflower counterparts, but they are worth the extra investment for the diversity they bring.
Some native shrubs, such as sagebrush, are extremely water-wise but very difficult to germinate in a garden setting, and even more difficult to transplant. The shrubs listed here are both hardy and lovely, with colorful flowers and interesting foliage.
