This section lists all of the regionally native herbaceous perennials (also known as forbs or wildflowers) that we recommend for Wyoming gardens.
Many of our native plants are perennials, or come back every year, though their longevity may differ from one species to the next. For example, penstemons are short lived but reseed readily so new individuals will pop up every couple of years; other plants will return each year.
Some native plants, such as the Indian Paintbrushes, are gorgeous but can be difficult to propagate and grow. The plants we suggest here are hardy, beautiful and accessible through regional nurseries or other seed sources.
